Chris Morrey was born on the Canadian plains in 1968 and he has lived across the mid- and intermountain West in Alberta, Colorado, Illinois, Texas and Arizona. He lives with his family in Norman, Oklahoma, where he makes sculptures and public art commissions, works for the School of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma.

His fascination with animals and with the found object are reflected in thirty years of drawings and sculptures. In his work he has translated one material into another—feathers into carbon fiber, stones and bones into cut steel and cast bronze, always with the goal of increasing his and our intimacy with the world, making objects that invite and even insist on touch, on close attention, on engagement.
